(Ephesians 5:21 NIV) "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."
(Romans 12:10 NIV) "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves."
The “A” in H.E.A.R.T. is for ACCOUNTABILITY. Another word to describe this key ingredient of love would be “devotion”. True and lasting relationships require a willingness to be devoted and accountable. The idea that love never asks any questions is a ludicrous myth pushed by media and pop culture. Their concept of more autonomous, less restrictive, “open” marriages, where one can meet their personal needs in whatever way necessary, has been a disaster for our culture. This is the opposite of the biblical model, and is a formula for failure, not success. All it takes to discredit this moronic philosophy is to look at its dismal track record in the area of relational longevity. In pop culture today, the term “committed relationship” has become an oxymoron. God’s plan works so much better. -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
