God the UNITER

July 6

(Ephesians 2:12-14 NIV) "Remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. {13} But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. {14} For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility,"

(Ephesians 4:4-6 NIV) "There is one body and one Spirit-- just as you were called to one hope when you were called-- {5} one Lord, one faith, one baptism; {6} one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all."

(Romans 8:35-39 NIV) "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? {36} As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." {37} No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. {38} For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, {39} neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

(Romans 6:5 NIV) "If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection."

When God separates, He separates some unto himself. Paradoxically, the great Separator is also the great Uniter. He separates in order to unify. We who have believed have one hope, one faith and one baptism. We gather around one throne. We are members of one body. We are one in the Spirit. We are one flock, one people, one Church. We sing one song. We belong to one Kingdom. We bow to one King: the King of Kings. We serve one Lord and Savior: His name is Jesus. We are one with Christ. It's an eternal union. Nothing can separate us. Nothing can separate what God has joined together. He will never leave us or forsake us. We belong to Him for eternity. Even today, Jesus, the great Uniter, is calling people out of darkness and into His light. He is calling people to become one with Him. Say yes! -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
