Christmas Future

December 3

(Isaiah 9:6-7 NIV) “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. {7} Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.”

(Isaiah 40:5 NIV) “And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Isaiah looked into Christmas Future and saw the arrival of the Messiah. He would not ride in on a white horse with sword in hand to kill all sinners. He would be born a baby, and His birth would go virtually unnoticed. But He would grow to be a great Comforter and Wonderful Counselor for the confused. The Most High and Mighty God would touch down on our planet. The Prince of Peace would come to this war zone called Earth. Isaiah saw the glory of the Everlasting Father revealed. He would not be born to royalty in a king’s palace, but to working class parents in a small village called Bethlehem. He would not be wrapped in expensive purple cloth, but in rags. He would grow up to live as a transient and die penniless with thieves, but He would change the world forever. O holy night, the Light of the God comes, “and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
