Diamonds and Gold

April 11

(Luke 8:25 NIV) “In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.””

(Romans 1:17 NIV)  "The righteous will live by faith."

(2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV)  "We live by faith, not by sight."

(1 Peter 3:14 NIV)  "But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. "Do not fear what they fear; do not be frightened.""

God is sovereign. Even the wind and the water obey Him. While having Jesus on board does not exempt us from the storms of life, it does give us someone to trust during the storm. And whether Christ calms the storm, or we end up at the bottom of the sea -- we have a Savior who cares for our soul. Christ provides secure passage for us to the other side of the lake, or the other side of eternity. We cross this lake called life at his pleasure, in his time, and in his boat. God is sovereign. Trust in Him. Fear is a crippling killer. It can cause us to live like cowards instead of heroes. It can gut the best of intentions and debilitate us. It can cause us to retreat when we ought to be charging ahead. But as Christians, we have a hope and a faith that crowds out fear. Guard your faith like it was diamonds. Hang onto hope like it was gold. -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
