(Luke 8:30-33 NIV) ““Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" "Legion," he replied, because many demons had gone into him. {31} And they begged him repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss. {32} A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into them, and he gave them permission. {33} When the demons came out of the man, they went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned.””
(Mark 16:9-10 NIV) "When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. {10} She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping."
When we confront our personal demons, it is important to get their name and their number -- not so we can call them later, but so they can be driven out. Our main hindrance in accomplishing this is denial. Seeking their name and number would be to admit that we have a problem and that we are no longer in control. It would also mean admitting that we have more than one problem. So we avoid it, and our demons multiply. Those who refuse to name their demons will seldom experience wellness. Those who think they have just one will habitually stumble. Think of it this way: the demons know your name, and they’ve certainly got your number. We’d be wise to get theirs. And don’t try to go it alone against them. It’s hard enough with God, but without Him it is impossible. Jesus is Lord over all demons. Be honest with Him and let Him help you get their name and number. -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
