(Psalm 130:1-4 NIV) “A song of ascents. Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord; {2} O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy. {3} If you, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? {4} But with you there is forgiveness; therefore you are feared.”
(1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV) “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. {5} It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
(Hebrews 8:12 NIV) “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
(Psalm 103:8-12 NIV) “The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. {9} He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; {10} he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. {11} For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; {12} as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
We must ascend to our God, for we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory. Our walk toward God is upward. But as we ascend, we must remember that our God is holy and no sin can dwell in His presence -- we must be cleansed in order to stand with God. We need a Savior! God so loved the world that He gave us His Son, and because of Christ’s sacrifice, our sins are covered. God’s love does more than just cleanse us -- it takes our sin away. Love keeps no record of wrongs and God’s love is perfect. The Lord keeps no record of sins for those in Christ. When we put our faith in the Lamb of God, the blood of the Lamb blots out our sin. God forgives our wickedness and remembers our sin no more. What a loving, gracious, and merciful God we have. Praise God from whom all forgiveness flows! -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
