(Psalm 125:1-2 NIV) “A song of ascents. Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. {2} As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore.”
(Psalm 32:7-10 NIV) “You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. {8} I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. {9} Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. {10} Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.”
Generally speaking, most of us would consider “being surrounded” as a negative thing. But as we ascend to worship the Lord, we come to realize that being surrounded by God is of great value. The Lord is all around us. He goes before us. He is by our side -- at our right hand and our left hand. He has our back. He is our rear guard. When we walk with God, there is no place where we can go that He does not accompany us. His omnipresence fills our space. He is our hiding place -- our place of present and final refuge. His instruction and counsel are always with us. When we trust in the Lord, we will not be shaken. We are safe and secure. When we trust in the Lord, His deliverance and His unfailing love surround us. We are wrapped in His arms. Have you put your trust in the Lord? Do not put it off another day. Join His “surrounded” people. -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
