Sweet Tooth for God

October 22

(Psalm 119:103-104 NIV) “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! {104} I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path.”

(Ezekiel 3:1-4 NIV)  "And he said to me, "Son of man, eat what is before you, eat this scroll; then go and speak to the house of Israel." {2} So I opened my mouth, and he gave me the scroll to eat. {3} Then he said to me, "Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it." So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth. {4} He then said to me: "Son of man, go now to the house of Israel and speak my words to them."

Having a sweet tooth for chocolate cake or ice cream can cause us weight problems as we grow older. But having a sweet tooth for God has only great benefits. Loving the sweet word of God will give us understanding and keep us on the right path in life. Having a sweet tooth for God will also improve our disposition as we walk the road of life. Being a bitter person is difficult when one is filled with the sweetness of God’s Spirit. When Jesus fills our heart, it becomes much more difficult to be caustic and abrasive. As the living word of God fills us, it transforms us from the inside out, and His nature becomes our nature. If we habitually display a sour disposition, perhaps it is because we have been looking at our daily time in God’s word as a duty or a chore. If we fill ourselves with the sweet words of God, the words that come out of us will naturally begin to reflect His nature. -- Friar Tuck’s Word of the Day
