Trustworthy and True

October 29

(Psalm 119:134-138 NIV) “Redeem me from the oppression of men, that I may obey your precepts. {135} Make your face shine upon your servant and teach me your decrees. {136} Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed. {137} Righteous are you, O Lord, and your laws are right. {138} The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy.”

(Revelation 21:5 NIV) “He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

At some point in life, we have to decide who or what we will trust. Is the Bible really the word of God, or is it just a book written by men? Are the words of Scripture trustworthy and true? Will we trust God’s word to direct and shape our lives, or will we trust in the words of the latest “Oprah-like” guru? Is the Bible a book full of God’s truth, or is it just a book of stale old stories? Some will choose the latter. They have been deeply wounded in life, and find it difficult to trust anyone or anything. They may even blame God for their pain, which makes it almost impossible to see the Scriptures as trustworthy. We must pray to be redeemed from this oppression of man -- this tendency to believe God does not care and cannot be trusted. Ask God to make His face to shine upon you. Ask Him to make you new. The Lord is still on the throne and His words are trustworthy and true. Believe it! -- Friar Tuck’s word of the Day
